The estate is located in West Michigan and is approximately 2-3 hours from both Detroit and Chicago, making it an especially interesting option for couples bringing together guests from different parts of Michigan or the Midwest.
Saugatuck itself also makes a wedding here feel more like a destination weekend than simply a single wedding day. Guests can stay in the area, explore Saugatuck and nearby Douglas, and enjoy the Lake Michigan shoreline while they’re in town.

For outdoor weddings, Belvedere offers a dedicated Garden Ceremony Space surrounded by the estate grounds. The ceremony area can accommodate weddings of up to 250 guests and is available during the venue’s outdoor season from April through October.
Couples can exchange vows surrounded by manicured gardens with the historic estate incorporated into the scenery, giving the ceremony a setting that already feels intentional before florals or additional décor are added. There are multiple possible ceremony layouts as well, giving couples more flexibility in deciding how they want the space to feel.
For photography, I especially love ceremony spaces like this because the environment becomes part of the story rather than simply serving as a neutral backdrop.
The Outdoor Terrace
The Outdoor Terrace is another feature that immediately sets Belvedere apart. The elevated terrace overlooks the property and has original Italian wrought-iron detailing, along with a sunset-facing orientation.
It can accommodate approximately 75–100 guests and can be used for cocktail hour, intimate dinners, or other portions of the wedding day. This is also exactly the kind of location I would plan around when creating a wedding photography timeline.
Rather than disappearing for portraits during the middle of cocktail hour for an arbitrary amount of time, we can intentionally watch the light and build a few minutes into the timeline for sunset portraits when the property is at its best.
Reception Spaces at Belvedere
Belvedere offers indoor and outdoor possibilities depending on your guest count, wedding design, and time of year. The Great Room provides an indoor setting with historic architectural details, chandeliers, hardwood flooring, large windows overlooking the gardens, and space for intimate receptions, dinners, and cocktail hours.
The estate also offers multiple event environments, allowing different pieces of the wedding day to unfold throughout the property instead of having everything happen within one room. That can make a huge difference in how a wedding feels for guests—and how the finished wedding gallery looks.
